Privacy Policy

SpeakMasri ("SpeakMasri," "we," "us," or "our") is a small web app made and operated by a single independent developer. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

1) Information we collect

Account information (Firebase Authentication)

• Name (if you provide one)
• Email address
• Password (handled by Firebase Authentication) — we do not store your raw password ourselves.
• If you sign in with Google, we receive the name, email, and profile photo Google shares with us. We never see or store your Google password.

Learning data (Firebase Firestore)

• Lesson progress, XP, milestones, completion history
• Any custom phrases, partner-submitted phrases, or notes you choose to save in the app
• If you use the Moment Plan feature, the type of moment, date, and person's name you enter

Basic analytics (Firebase Analytics)

We collect basic usage events to understand how the app is used, such as sign-ups, lesson completion, and return visits / session activity. This is used to improve the app. We do not use ad networks or third-party advertising trackers.

2) Audio and Text-to-Speech

SpeakMasri uses Google Cloud Text-to-Speech to generate pronunciation audio. We send the text needed to generate the audio to this service. We do not collect voice recordings from you, and we do not ask for or store microphone audio.

3) How we use information

• Create and manage your account
• Save your learning progress and show it back to you
• Provide the core learning features (including generating audio)
• Understand basic usage trends and improve the app
• Respond to support requests

4) What we do NOT do

• We do not sell your personal data.
• We do not run ads or share your data with ad networks.
• We do not use third-party trackers beyond the services described here (Firebase and Google Cloud, used to run the app).

5) Sharing and service providers

We use these service providers to operate SpeakMasri: Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Analytics), Google Sign-In, and Google Cloud Text-to-Speech. These providers process data on our behalf so the app can function.

6) Data retention

We keep your account information and learning data while your account is active. We may retain limited logs/records as needed for security, debugging, and legal compliance. Content you delete (like a saved phrase) is removed from active use immediately; backend backups may take longer to fully clear.

7) Your data: access, export, and deletion

You're in control of your own data:

• Export: from Profile → Account → Download my data, you can download a copy of everything associated with your account as a file, any time.
• Delete: from Profile → Account → Delete My Account, you can permanently delete your account and all associated learning data yourself, immediately, no waiting on us. You'll be asked to re-enter your password to confirm.
• If you can't access the app for some reason, email support@speakmasri.com and we'll delete it manually after verifying you own the account.

8) Security

We use standard security measures provided by our infrastructure (Firebase/Google Cloud) and reasonable precautions to protect your data. Access to your data is restricted to your own signed-in account — we don't have an admin backdoor into other users' personal data. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.

9) Children

SpeakMasri is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

10) Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and may provide additional notice in the app or on the website.
