Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of SpeakMasri (speakmasri.com) ("SpeakMasri," "we," "us," or "our"). By using the site or creating an account, you agree to these Terms.

1) What SpeakMasri is

SpeakMasri is a free web app that teaches Egyptian Arabic through short lessons. It is created and operated by a single independent developer (not a corporation).

2) Eligibility

You must be able to form a legally binding agreement to use SpeakMasri. If you are under 13, do not use the app.

3) Your account

• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
• You agree to provide accurate information and keep your email address up to date.
• You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account.
• You can sign in with an email/password or with Google. Either way, the responsibilities above apply.

4) Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the service in a way that breaks any law or regulation
• Attempt to hack, disrupt, or overload the service
• Reverse engineer or scrape the site in a way that harms the service
• Upload or store content (including "custom phrases," partner-submitted phrases, or Moment Plan details) that is illegal, abusive, or infringes someone else's rights
• Use the no-account-needed partner phrase link to send abusive, harassing, or unwanted content to another person

5) Your content (custom phrases/notes/Moment Plan)

If you enter custom phrases, notes, or Moment Plan details, you retain ownership of your content. You give us permission to host, store, and process that content only as needed to operate the service (for example, saving your progress and generating pronunciation audio for provided text).

6) Intellectual property

The SpeakMasri site, lessons, text, design, and software are owned by SpeakMasri or its licensors and are protected by applicable laws. You may not copy, redistribute, or sell the lessons or content except as allowed by law or with written permission.

7) Free service; changes

SpeakMasri is currently free and does not process payments. We may add, remove, or change features at any time. We may also introduce paid features in the future; if we do, we will clearly communicate terms before you are charged.

8) Third-party services

SpeakMasri relies on third-party services (including Firebase, Google Sign-In, and Google Cloud Text-to-Speech) to function. Your use of SpeakMasri may be subject to those providers' applicable terms as they relate to their services.

9) Disclaimers

SpeakMasri is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your needs. Lessons are for educational purposes and are not professional language certification.

10) Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, SpeakMasri will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid to use the service (currently $0).

11) Termination

You can stop using SpeakMasri at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms or if needed to protect the service or other users.

12) Account deletion and data export

You can delete your account yourself at any time from Profile → Account → Delete My Account inside the app — it's immediate and permanent, no need to wait on us. You can also download a copy of your data any time from Profile → Account → Download my data. See the Privacy Policy for more detail. If you can't access the app, email support@speakmasri.com.

13) Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above and may provide additional notice in the app or on the website. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
